Studies have shown that 46 percent of those with major sleep apnea, regardless
of sex, age, weight, or race, were more likely to die from any cause.
Men between ages 40 to 70 with serious sleep disorder breathing were twice
as likely to die from any cause compared to healthy men of the same age.
During sleep, those with apnea disorder stop breathing for 10 seconds
or longer. This may occur 5 to 50 times an hour!
In every four Americans, 1 suffers from obstructive sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea (obstructive) is caused by nose, throat, or mouth bloackage.
It usually happens in obese people when fatty tissues in the throat
press down on the passage airway.
Sleep apnea deaths usually occur during the night. For people who are
suffering from other types of sleep apnea other than sleep apnea (obstructive),
death occurs during the daytime.
According to sleep apnea doctors, a high level of deaths in sleep apnea (obstrcutive) sufferers are caused by cardiac problems during sleeping hours.
