Mixed Sleep Apnea
What is mixed sleep apnea? It is a combination of the two main types
of sleep apnea Obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.
All of these sleep apnea cause sleep and oxygen deprivation.
Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, if severe, may develop into central
sleep apnea.
Mixed Sleep Apnea Causes
In obstructive sleep apnea, the exact mechanism of the central respiratory
drive loss during sleep is not known. However, it is believed that this
is commonly due to a heart failure which results in the malfunctioning
of the acid-base and CO2 feedback.
Sleep disorder breathing is affected by symptoms and diseases relating
to cardiovascular, body mass, neurological dysfunction, and respiratory.
Chronic opiate abuse, which is consuming large doses of narcotics which
results in respiratory depression, causes central sleep apnea without
the obstructive component.
Researchers have described complex sleep apnea, also known as mixed
sleep apnea, as a novel presentation.
Complex sleep apnea displays obsructive sleep apnea. However, upon positive
airway pressure application, the sufferer displays persistent central
sleep apnea, and hence the term mixed sleep apnea.
The central apnea component is evident while on CPAP therapy after eliminating
the obstructive component.

blood pressure...

Types of sleep apnea disability :
1. central sleep apnea
,

sleep apnea ,
3. mixed sleep apnea (both central sleep apnea and obstructive sleep
apnea).
